CENTRAL PARK BOATHOUSE
This historic building started over 150 years ago as an area to explore and rent rowboats, and over the years it has evolved into a landmark restaurant. This iconic space will continue to hold catered events, restaurant services and rowboat rentals to its millions of visitors each year.
THE ROLE
The Sous Chef under the direction of the Executive Chef, will be responsible for effectively supporting all culinary operations including the oversight of all production, operation, and sanitation aspects of culinary and catering operations throughout the facility.
Essential Functions
- People and product focused hands-on leadership of day-to-day operations of food outlet kitchens as assigned.
- Possess a high level of multiple outlet management knowledge and experience including catered events.
- Ability and knowledge to receive and inspect, select, and use only the freshest fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, and other food products of the highest standard in the preparation of all menu items.
- Assists in monitoring proper receiving, storage, and rotation of food products to comply with Health Department regulations. Including coverage, labeling, dating, and placing items in proper storage containers to ensure products freshness.
- Participates in the production of all food items necessary for the operation as directed by Executive Chef and/or management.
- Participates and assists with leading culinary staff in the sanitation standards of all kitchens to assure compliance with local health department standards and company standards.
- Provides efficient service and quality products by maintaining positive customer and client relations through effective communication and prudent financial practices.
- Works under the direction of the Executive Chef concerning banquets and/or team training.
- Non-Traditional Schedule opening and closing restaurant week days will vary.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- The ideal team member will have a degree or certification from an accredited culinary arts institute, or apprenticeship certification from the American Culinary Federation.
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in a high-volume full-service food operation.
- Proven track record in improving kitchen efficiencies, quality, and relative costs.
- Must have excellent leadership, financial analysis, team building and communication skills/customer service.
- Must have knowledge of kitchen sanitation, operation, and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
- Must be detail-oriented and extremely organized with the ability to learn new programs and procedures quickly.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be flexible to work extended hours due to business requirements including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be open to providing incidental or short-term support to other facilities in the event of a business emergency.
- Travel may be required.
- Practice safe work habits, follow all safety policies and procedures and regulations, complete company-wide safety training and any additional job specific safety training.
Compensation
Competitive salary $80,000 - $90,000, commensurate with experience, and a generous benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401k plan.

THE ROLE:
The purpose of the Banquet Supervisor is to set, maintain, clean, and refresh all meeting and special event spaces within the Central Park Boathouse. The supervisor will oversee the set up and operations of the team. In addition, this position will also be responsible for organizing all storage areas and maintain end of month inventory reports for banquet equipment and supplies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with Banquet Manager and Housemen to set up private function areas with appropriate equipment and materials including tables, chairs, linens, and any other items requested.
- Key attention to detail with properly setting event spaces according to management standards and floor plans.
- Knowledge of banquet stations set up and types equipment required as per SOPs.
- Oversee the tear down event spaces with housemen and Banquet Manager to include stripping rooms of furniture and resetting the room per specifications outlined on the banquet event order .
- Inspect banquet equipment for defects, cleanliness, and any other maintenance required.
- Monitor event spaces for cleanliness as well as F&B replenishing needs. This includes and not limited changing soiled linens and properly straighten chairs and firing of F&B for stations.
- Maintain proper care by following safety guidelines during movement and storage of equipment.
- Continuously keep service corridors, pre function space and storage areas clean, organized and unobstructed.
- Responsible to maintain and assist Banquet Manager with updates on monthly inventory reports for all banquet equipment and supplies.
- Support house team members during special events to include , monitoring food service, and beverage service including water drops, coffee service and ice deliveries. Making sure tables and space are free of garbage, dirty wares and clean napkins
- Assist during special event operations as assigned. This includes and not limited to assisting wait staff and operations with service that meets the highest standards of customer satisfaction.
- Maintain and organize banquets storage areas as well as create signage and labels for specific food stations based on upcoming BEOS
- Responsible for keeping assigned work area clean.
- Supervise train and motivate banquets operations staff. Support Banquet Manager with after event feedback for post Event Recap
- Assistance in overseeing/operating Coat Check if needed.
- Expectation to pull liquor req sheets and to return unused product to the shelf.
- Expectations to assist with buffet layout & dry-setting.
- Duties performed in both indoor and outdoor settings with events taking place in the elements of all four seasons. Events may often include variable noise levels.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of (2) years of banquets set up experience in large/high volume venue.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Familiarity with wine service and liquor brands preferred.
- Ability to lift 50lbs, as well as bend, stretch, push and pull objects with support equipment.
- Able to work non-traditional shifts to include extended hours and flexible schedule including early mornings, weekends, days, nights and holidays.
- Ability to stand/walk throughout shift.
- Must be able to work well in high pressure situations and remain flexible during last minute additions or changes.
- Must possess good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Familiar with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel with ability to learn applicable data bases and systems.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a Plus.
- Follow and encourage your team to follow all safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to looking for and reporting any unsafe work conditions, and complete company-wide safety training and any additional job specific safety training.
- Report all safety incidents (injuries and illnesses) into the company's risk management system (Origami Risk) on the same day that the safety incident has been reported to you.
